Celebrating the Season at Home: Holiday & New Year Photo Contests at The Villages – Fort Benning
The holiday season looks a little different for everyone, and this year, residents of The Villages – Fort Benning captured that beautifully through two seasonal photo contests that highlighted what home, tradition, and celebration truly mean in our military housing community.
Designed to be inclusive, relaxed, and resident-focused, these contests invited families to share real moments from their lives, whether spent here at home near Fort Benning, traveling to see loved ones, or celebrating in their own unique way.
A Look at Christmas Through Our Residents’ Eyes
Our Holiday Photo Contest asked residents to share what Christmas looked like for them this year. Submissions included cozy moments at home, favorite family traditions, travel snapshots, and meaningful glimpses into how military families celebrate the season, no matter where they are!
With so many heartfelt entries, our team quickly realized choosing just a few winners wouldn’t do these moments justice. In true holiday spirit, 20 photos were selected as Staff Picks, each earning a $25 Amazon gift card. The images told a powerful story of resilience, connection, and community — values that define life at The Villages – Fort Benning.
Ringing in the New Year, Porter Village Style
To kick off the New Year, we hosted a second photo contest exclusively for residents of Porter Village, encouraging them to share how they celebrated New Year’s Eve.
All six participants were selected as Staff Pick winners, each receiving a $25 Amazon gift card. More importantly, their photos reflected the authenticity and variety of experiences that make our Fort Benning military housing community feel like home.
More Than a Contest — A Community Snapshot
These photo contests weren’t about perfection or competition. They were about connection. They gave residents a chance to share their stories, see how neighbors celebrate, and feel part of something larger even during a season when military life can mean distance, change, or time apart.
