When It Snowed in Georgia: A Community Snow Day to Remember

Snow in Georgia is rare, and when it happens, it feels like a little bit of magic. This winter, our community woke up to an unexpected snowfall, and residents didn’t waste a second heading outside to capture the moment.

From classic snowmen and snowy front porches to kids (and adults!) making the most of a once-a-year surprise, residents shared their snow day photos with us as part of a spontaneous community photo contest. The response was incredible: over 250 photos were submitted, each one capturing a unique and joyful take on Georgia’s brief brush with winter weather.

To celebrate, we randomly selected two photo submissions to each receive a $50 Lowe’s gift card. While only two entries could take home the prizes, every single photo helped tell the story of a community coming together to enjoy a rare and memorable day.

In addition to our randomly selected winners, our team also chose several staff favorites as honorable mentions. These photos stood out for their creativity, humor, and heart, and reminded us just how special these shared moments can be.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped turn a snowy surprise into a community-wide celebration. Whether you built a snowman, snapped a photo from your porch, or simply enjoyed seeing your neighbors’ posts, this was a reminder that sometimes the best moments are the unexpected ones.

Be sure to check out the winning photos and honorable mentions below—and keep an eye out for future community events and contests. You never know when Georgia might surprise us again.
